The location of the 1976 film 'The Eagle Has Landed' is an apt venue  for Mapledurham at War.

Over 400 Re enactors from all over the country will converge on the beautiful Mapledurham Estate to

set up camp with over 30 living history displays, with more than 100 military vehicles, as if it were during World War 2 for the entire weekend.  Army trucks, tanks, WW2 amphibious craft and cars will convey the troops around the site whilst the camp displays will show how life was during that time. Authentic battles will take place each day and musicians and dancers  from the period will entertain the troops.

Christine Wallace from the Great British Bake off will be demonstrating some war time recipes and

sharing stories  from her mother in law. She will have Memory Board for visitors to add their

memories or family stories.  Her cookware kitchen will be no doubt be a reminiscing opportunity

to be shared with younger visitors.

Two Tiger Moths will also be taking to the air each day from nearby Chiltern AirPark giving the

chance for vintage flying lesson over Mapledurham.

The Mapledurham Watermill will be open each day where visitors will be able to see the flour being

milled and sample the baking from the millers wife.  There will be children's activities  and street Food.


Wartime amphibious jeeps will be "swimming" in the mill pond

Home front including ARP post and wardens, civilian police, land girls and 1940's farming.

British displays including home guard, British paratroopers and infantry and also the WW2 canoe.

American displays including Jive music and dancing, 1940's singer, 101st airborne Band of Brothers

and the US navy.

German displays including the elite German unit the Waffen SS, german army Wehrmact, German

home guard and defenders of Berlin the Volkssturm and the German Para troops the Fallschirmjager.

Many re-enactors who dont have displays "stroll" around the event in period uniforms and dress,

home guard, British and American generals, RAF, American soldiers and flyers, free French army,

scouts, commandos etc.

The groups will have period vehicles on there displays as well as period tentage equipment and weapons.

We also will have some groups from other periods such as the 82nd airborne Vietnam group and the

Gulf war SAS unit.

Wartime police; re-enactor groups; Life in the Blitz, Air raid drills, dancing demonstrations.
